Qualifications
Your high school preparation should include four years of mathematics, including one year of calculus. You should also have completed four years of science, including chemistry and physics. Competitive applicants will have taken a rigorous math curriculum including calculus that includes one-variable differential and integral calculus and/or passed examinations that show proof of mastery. Be sure you have reported your AP and IB scores to Northwestern University. We may delay making a decision on your ISP application until we have received them. Examples of math curricula or exams that meet these criteria include:
- Advanced Placement Calculus AB and/or BC
- International Baccalaureate HL or SL Math Analysis and Approaches, or Analytics and Interpretations
- A-Level Maths and/or Further Maths
- College or university calculus courses
- Other independent or national curricula are also accepted providing they meet the criteria outlined above
If you will be taking AP or IB tests at the end of your senior year, and are otherwise well-qualified, we may be able to defer your decision until we have the results of those tests. Be sure to note this on your application and send in your test scores to NU as soon as possible. We will contact you should we need any additional information.
Please contact the Administrative staff at ISPAdmin@northwestern.edu if you have questions about your qualifications or preparation.
